Candidates start putting up their posters and playing their jingles yesterday (Oct. 14, 2010) as the campaign period for the October 25 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls begins.
Commission on Elections (Comelec) states that the 10-day campaign period for the Barangay and SK Election 2010 is from October 14, 2010 to October 23, 2010.
Comelic reminded candidates to post only in common poster areas such as plazas, markets, barangay centers and the like. The campaign materials, however, should be according to the prescribed size – for flyers 8 ½ x 14 inches, for poster 2×3 feet and for streamers 3×8 feet.
The officials to be elected in each barangay are the following:
For the Barangay Elections: One (1) Barangay Captain and seven (7) Barangay Councilors.
For the Sangguniang Kabataan Elections: One (1) SK Chairman and seven (7) SK Councilors.
In Sudlon 2, candidates were already busy promoting themselves to the voters, plastering different-sized home-made printouts and for sure, in the coming days, we can expect election rallies or forums. There are certain individuals who are willing to help improve our barangay and who run for money and power so we should be vigilant. Choose your candidates wisely!
